I love to watch documentaries, especially those that deal with engineering and the natural world. I am permanently appalled to watch incredibly defective translations from English to Spanish, like the translators just do not care at all about the effect they may be causing on their audience.
Words like revelante instead of revelador, captivante for cautivador or asesino for “killer” show how mediocre work can be when no supervision is performed. Is a mantis religiosa an asesino? Do animals possess an evil, mean, sordid killing instinct? Of course not! They kill only to survive so the word “asesino” is definitely not applicable to them. Maybe the documentary supervisor is as limited as his underlings…
